The happy book of fun
Entirely designed, illustrated and written by me, this activity book is definitely one of the highlights of my years at Paperchase!
Kids are guided through the book by three different characters, one for each type of activity.
The red square is all about arts and creativity, the blue guy is for relaxation and mindfulness, and the yellow triangle is the master of puzzles and games.
The colourful illustrations are inspired by the raw, unfussy creative energy of children’s play. I worked with tons of unpolished shapes and messy compositions, and created hand-drawn textures to add a layer of nostalgia for crayons and kids’ crafts.
Over the pages, kids can jump between puzzles and mazes, colouring-in pages and traditional games like connect-the-dots.
What makes this book extra special is the focus on mindfulness. Through a series of simple but fun activities kids can learn the importance of taking a moment to pause and relax, or how to learn from our mistakes.
Some of my favourite pages in the book are the step-by-step drawing guides! I loved them as a kid, and it was incredibly fun to be on the other end of the creative process at this time!
