Chonky is a typeface designed in one day, during a workshop run by Alexandra Lunn.
Starting from paper cutting, I created the letterforms with a very raw and free-hand approach: no sketches, no second takes, just scissors, the only rule was ‘make it chunky’.
Once most letters were cut out, I vectorised them to do a quick tidy up of the shapes and to adjust the height and width of each character in Glyphs.
After the workshop, I expanded the set of characters and fixed the kerning in Glyphs, aiming to keep the playful and raw spirit of the typeface.
